“Life is duality... the more I choose light over darkness even if it’s 5% more, I’m ethically going to feel good in my heart and that’s kind of what I’m trying to embody more and what I’m trying to teach.” - Radha Dalal
5%. It’s a number that appears to carry mystery and symbolism as you come across it again and again in the writings of Radha Dalal, a coach using her education in meditation, human development, and sociology, as well as her personal cultural experience as an immigrant who grew up in the Hindu religion, in order to help others to tap into their intuition.
So far, The Newsletter has published interviews with a traveling photographic artist, and a PR professional looking to cultivate something authentic but largely unheard of in the Dublin music scene.
With the bulk of my work falling under the umbrella of the arts, this newsletter is, naturally an extension of that. So what makes an intuitive coach a good fit?
The benefit and resource for all of us that is tapping into our intuition. Life and the world are crazy right now, so why not be crazy in tune?
Personally, as I’ve been seeking funding in correlation with an awarded grant, working on a second book, and just living life (you know?), the concept of intuition has only gotten more important to me. As has seeking guidance from people with roots in the spaces they teach in and through.
The chat below isn’t about what you should want, or what to do to be a better person. It’s about offering yourself compassion. It’s about self-love and what it looks like, as opposed to what it doesn’t…
“I’m going to have to bathe in the moon and be naked and pour flowers all over me...” - Radha Dalal
It has lessons from the Bhagavad Gita (it’s fine if you don’t know what that is; learning something new would be a cool thing for you to do here!).
“I’ve always been fascinated by this story because it’s the story of real people...
I think many of us might be able to relate to [the villain’s story and characteristics]
…
He literally had everything, he had the kingdom, he had the jewels, he had the wife, he had everything and yet he wanted more... he wanted to be considered the greatest... he took it upon himself to not achieve that greatness and learn from his brothers, he took it upon himself to steal.” - Radha Dalal
It’s about 5%, a sustainable and accessible amount of change to strive for - if you feel change is needed at all.

Two artists with Texas ties, Natalia Padilla (who I have to thank for pointing me in the right direction for Vipassana in Texas), and Ja’Tovia Gary, have been doing the work that makes audiences look and think as we come to the end of this year.
Support Natalia’s LOCAL project with the purchase of one of the artists’ originally designed crewnecks as well as a gift of 25 of her LOCAL coloring books, designed by Padillia with the intention of being gifted to immigrant children living in the city of Dallas. Then read about and see Gary’s subversive and stunning installation work at Art Basel Miami from W Magazine, here.
Reading
Friend of the Artist, which I’ve moved from co-author to author of, is now taking pre-orders for its 14th edition. This hardcover juried art book is beautiful, it seeks to and has been successful in putting a wide range of artists on the map, on gallery walls, and in the collections of some household names, and I (as both co-author and author) have saught to tell their stories in brevity, with detail, and through intrigue for the respective conceptualization of their work.

Listening
There's new Aaliyah. The sound is a great update on the singer's music without trying too hard to be modern, with a beat that feels produced for and with her. The new song, Poison, has a Weeknd feature that is much better than his latest; if that Maluma remix is in fact his latest.
Two paywalled letters are coming on Christmas Eve and NYE, one with an exclusive Miami Art Week story, another to feature film and social analysis that’s seasonal perfection. Be sure to subscribe for access.
